Adelitas Way, Home School Valedictorian- CD Review

Adelitas Way, Home School Valedictorian

Good rock n’ roll comes out sporadically. New bands are like candy; there are some flavors you like, and some flavors you leave in the bag for someone else to eat. For a year or two no good, new, bands will hit the airwaves, just a bunch of crap. And then, all of a sudden, the good bands start to get signed. In the last couple years I have actually heard more good than bead, which is amazing. One “good” comes from the band Adelitas Way. When I got on their guest list for their opening slot at Dow Event Center last year I didn’t even know who they were, I just wanted to go see Three Days Grace. But, at that show I fell in love with the rock stylings of Adelitas Way. their music is in the vein of newer bands like Hinder and Saving Abel.

The first thing I did when I got home from that concert was email the band’s people and asked for a CD… which I know, finally have, over a year later.

Home School Valedictorian was released this year, the bands second album. Their first, self titled, album came out in 2009 and made a name for the band with it’s airplay of “Invincible” and “Last Stand.” Their second album stands up to the sound of their first album. This band didn’t waste everything to make one great album, they will stand the test of time as long as they keep true to themselves.

My favorite tracks on Home School Valedictorian are “Criticize” and “Cage The Beast.” The album has music that any fan of rock will love, male or female. They are raw and powerful, but they can embrace a love song too. I highly recommend this disc to fans of both Rock and Top 40.
