Dee Snider: Dee Does Broadway

What do Clay Aiken, Cyndi Lauper, Patti LuPone and Dee Snider have in common?  Not much, right? I mean they all sing.  Oh, and they sing together on Dee Snider’s new album.  Yeah, right, one of these things doesn’t belong.

So lets start at the top.  In case you have been in a “musical”coma (pun intended) since the 80’s, Dee is the frontman for Twisted Sister and he just released an album , Dee does Broadway.  An album populated by Broadway show tunes.  The catch is Dee does it his way (yes another pun).

Among the tunes covered are: “Cabaret”, “The Ballad of Sweeney Todd” and “Luck be a Lady Tonight” with Clay Aiken.  Cyndi Lauper duets with Dee on “Big Spender” and Jesse Blaze Snider sings with his dad on “The Joint is Jumpin’”.  I have an alternate title to the CD.  DEE DOES BROADWAY: SHOW TUNES TO ROCK TO.

Ok, I like show tunes and I love Dee Snider’s take on some of the best from Broadway.  If you have ever been interested in show

tunes but were too embarrassed to check out a show or pick-up a CD of show tunes then this is the CD for you.  I have even played the disc to 3 different people and all of them started with a “yea right this is going to suck” attitude.  I am happy to say that they quickly changed their minds.
