This past Tuesday the much anticipated sequel to the ‘Sex and the City’ movie franchise came out on DVD. I shouldn’t have been anticipating it so much. I was slightly disappointed. But only slightly. The four friends return; Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha. The ladies go for a tip to Abu Dhabi for former loves and new loves, or for business and some time away.
Where the first film was all about the relationship between Carrie and “Big”, the follow up is all about Samantha’s sex drive. It feels like it goes on for ten hours, I think it is actually about three. The shoes are fun, the fashion is as crazy as ever, the lives are somewhat real, and Samantha gets arrested for having sex on the beach. I paid to rent this movie? I am glad I didn’t pay to see it in the theater, I would have been even more disappointed.
I personally think that ‘Sex and the City’ would have faired better if it would have remained a television show. The content of their story lines just are not meant for sustaining the length of a motion picture. I was a fan of the television show and I definitely cried at the first movie, but to me, ‘Sex and the City 2’ can stay on the shelves of the stores selling it. Sorry ladies.
