Flocked Express Review: Kickstarter App v2.0.1

Every time an app majorly updates, you think “this sucks, but I guess I’ll get used to it.” You often even learn to love the change and anticipate updates for the exciting new features.

On January 27, 2015 Kickstarter made a massive change to their app with their 2.0 release. I have tried to be patient and curious in getting used all the major changes of this new “upgrade,” but there are some great features they flat out removed from this version. For example, I really, really hate that you can no longer see at-a-glance which projects you’ve backed with the time remaining. I also feel like the interface, while viewing a project, is worse as well. It is way more awkward. You have to go into each option just to get more details.

At first glance it seems like they were going for a sleek, streamlined look, but the overall functionality has really suffered. It’s a little more fun to search and browse, plus it’s great that the iPad is now supported, but the core of the update it is just rotten. I feel bad for those UI designers that thought this was a great way to change Kickstarter.
