Who are some of your favorite visual, literary or performance artists?

My favorite and most inspirational artist is Bob Ross. It is his painting technique and old episodes that inspired me to give painting a try.

Do you have any technical/formal training to do what you do?

No training or special technique. I am self taught and still learning with each painting I do.

Do you consider your art to be a hobby or a career?

Right now it’s just a hobby, because I don’t make enough money to make a career out of it. I would love to make a career out of it though.

What projects are you currently working on?

I have a commission piece I have been working on for a friend; a memorial piece in honor of her brother. Other than that I have just been working on landscapes. I will be selling at the Port Austin Farmer’s Market this year, which opens on May 26, so I have also been getting pieces together to sell there; which means I am working on lighthouses again.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I would love to be doing this for a living and have my own brick & mortar gallery.

Is there an art form you have not tried but would like to? Is there one you have tried and hated?

I tried changing mediums from oil to acrylic. I hated it. Acrylic paint just doesn’t blend like oils do and dries much to fast.

Do you have any rituals that help you get in the mindset to create?

I generally just do some research to find a picture that inspires me to paint. My paintings are never just like my inspiration though, as I do all of my work free-hand.

Has the digital age affected your art? Do you use technology to enhance or publish yourself?

Being able to see images online helps a lot for inspiration. I have a wordpress site where people can learn about me and see available work. I also utilize Twitter, FaceBook and I sell on Etsy.

Have you had the chance to present your art at a gallery or other public place?

So far it’s only been seen online or in my own living room. But, as I mentioned before, I will be selling at a local Farmer’s Market this year. I am hoping the visibility will not only get more some more sales, but may also get me some other opportunities.

If you could be on the cover of any magazine, which one would it be? Why? How would you be posed? Props?

Totally off the subject, it would be a hunting magazine. My prop would be a record buck, that I have not yet gotten. I am an avid hunter and fisherman.

Which canceled TV show do you miss the most? Why?

Firefly. The acting talent that was gathered, combined with Joss Whedon’s writing, made that show one of my all time favorites.

What was the last movie you saw in a theater?

I think it was the remake of ‘True Grit.’ Paid $40 for 2 tickets and snacks and haven’t been back to the theater since!

Which film do you think should have had a sequel, but didn’t?

‘Serenity’, of course.

What now deceased celebrity or other person of note do you miss the most? Why?

I can’t say I “miss” him, but Heath Ledger. The pinnacle of his career was his representation of The Joker. It’s too bad he only got to play that role once, since he was the best.

If you were a cocktail, what kind of cocktail would you be? Why?

A simple, quenching bottle of bud. Relaxed, laid back and cool.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Buy my art, please.
