In a press release this morning, Wizard World had to announce some sad news, “As you may have seen on social media, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have both had unexpected conflicts arise with their current filming schedules which have caused some schedule changes at Wizard World Chicago 2018.”
Unfortunately, these things do happen, but it is extremely impressive the lengths that Wizard World is going through to still try to make fans happy. Sometimes when guests have to cancel, that is the end of it. But not here. Wizard World has rearranged part of the schedule so that almost all of the promised Outlander guests can be there at the same time. This means a lot is now happening on Thursday… which is great that it can still happen, but it is unfortunate for those who didn’t plan on having time off work to be at the con on Thursday. I think Wizard World did their best, though, to make a bad situation a lot less disappointing. They even added Skype sessions with Sam Heughan for those who had purchased photo ops with him. No, it isn’t the same, but maybe in some ways it is better since now there is more of a chance to have a little chat with the man. Just think of how you feel when you have to work on days you thought you had off, I am sure the actors feel the same way and wish they could be at the show, as promised. Hopefully fans still turn out in support of the rest of the cast who will be there. So yes, disappointing for sure, but if all else fails, fans can get their money back.
