Said the Whale Announce New Brighton EP

Vancouver’s Said the Whale announce the release of the first new music since 2009’s acclaimed full-length, Islands Disappear. On November 8, Hidden Pony Records will release the New Brighton EP, a 4-track digital EP, across North America. The band recorded the EP this summer in addition to the album recording sessions at Blue Wave and Vertical Studios in Vancouver with longtime producer, Tom Dobrzanski. The new album, yet untitled, is being mixed by Jack Joseph Puig, a multiple Grammy Award winner who has worked with U2, Weezer and No Doubt and the official album release date has been set for release on March 6, 2012. On October 18, the first New Brighton EP track, “Lines,” will be released exclusively through Said the Whale’s website The rest of the New Brighton EP tracks will follow, available digitally as of November 8.

Having just wrapped a national tour with Rah Rah and Sara Lowes (both Hidden Pony Records label mates) Said the Whale are preparing for another U.S. tour over October and November with B.C. friends, We Are The City. Their first American excursion earlier this spring was famously captured in the CBC documentary Winning America, which followed the band’s harrowing adventure to SXSW, and ultimately home to Canada to triumphantly win a JUNO Award. Due to viewer demand, after initially airing only in B.C., Winning America has landed a national airdate in Canada for New Year’s Eve (Dec 31) at 12:00 pm local time across the country. After their U.S. run this fall, Said the Whale will return home to play a set of very special holiday shows December 8 and 9 at The Phoenix in Toronto, supporting Born Ruffians and Tokyo Police Club. Both shows are on sale now.
