The future of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal has arrived by way of two recent releases. Newsted and Beasto Blanco.
In 2013 Jason Newsted (Metallica, Flotsam and Jetsam) returned to his roots with his release simply entitled HEAVY METAL MUSIC. This is the epitome of what heavy metal should be.
I sat in my car with a friend playing the CD and what we heard was pure metal. Tracks such as “Soldierhead”, “Kings of the Underdogs” and “…As the Crow Flies” will have fans of classic as well as new metal sitting up and taking notice. From one track to the next you will hear the unmistakable influence of Motorhead, Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Megadeth and other classic metal bands. HEAVY METAL MUSIC is like a tribute album to the above mentioned bands without there being a single cover. In other words, Newsted is the spearhead of the new wave of Heavy Metal.
In late 2013 a CD was released, kind of quietly, almost under the radar. The brain child of Alice Cooper bassist, Chuck Garric and features Calico Cooper and Glen Sobel, Beasto Blanco is the best combination of classic hard/guitar driven rock and 90’s industrial/metal. The biggest influence one will hear is Rob Zombie. Songs such as “Beasto Blanco”, “California” and “Motorqueen” could have easily found their way onto Zombies THE SINISTER URGE.
There is a lot of great rock on LIVE FAST DIE LOUD, including the title track. However, I think fans of Rob Zombie, My Life with Thrill Kill Kult and early 90’s Ministry will latch on to Beasto Blanco.
