I have had my eye on this one for a while, and I just continue to waffle about whether or not to pull the trigger and just buy it already… this week I present to you a Think Geek exclusive item: The Last Unicorn statue.
I think I can speak for a certain amount of my generation that we all remember the heartbreaking animated tale of The Last Unicorn. I even remember a writing assignment in elementary school and I pretty much ended up just plagiarizing the entire story for my assignment. My teacher was none the wiser and I got away with it… but it was also just a creative writing assignment when I was barely in the double-digits. I think I even still have it somewhere in my things, but I KNOW I still have the movie version. I have not yet read the novel by Peter S. Beagle (link to Amazon Bio) or the newly adapted comic book version (ok, it was new in 2010). I have a long to=do list when it comes to reading and I tend to put that off in favor of creating something and working with my hands. I have a hard time settling down into a book. I do try, though. I was raised a reader, I am not sure how I managed to stray so much. In any case, I still absolutely adore books of any kind.
I digress, let’s get back to the point of me pining away over this beautiful statue that I have nowhere to place. I could probably make a spot, but that is what has led to my hesitation on the purchase. I have been trying to purge, downsize, and simplify my life, do I really need one more thing? The answer usually ends up a yes on that one. So let me present to you the information that Think Geek shares on their exclusive statue of The Last Unicorn.
If you feel that you might be the last of your kind and wish to find others like you (or you just particularly enjoyed the book or movie version of The Last Unicorn), this statue is the ideal way to draw others like you. Because what we all really want is to be with those who know us for what we are, whether we’re unicorns or magicians.
Put this on a bookcase or a desk to show off your magical personality. Sculpted by Kristina Lucas Francis, the unicorn can be displayed without the base if you so desire. The peg under her left front hoof will show, but nobody’s going to notice that. After all, they’re looking at the LAST unicorn, right?
