Vince Neil: TATTOOS & TEQUILA

Vince Neil

TATTOOS & TEQUILA

2011 Eleven Seven Music

I have found the perfect CD to start summer, Vince Neil’s TATTOOS & TEQUILA.  Motley Crue’s front man’s new release just screams summer.  From the album art to the music on the disc, Vince just captures that surfer, sunny California vibe.

TATTOOS & TEQUILA is the companion recording to Vince Neil’s new book by the same name (review to follow soon).  What surprised me the most was that this seems to be mainly a cover album.

Starting with an original, “Tattoos & Tequila”, Vince and band, comprising of Slaughter alum Dana Strum and Jeff Blando, blast through covers of songs such as Aerosmith’s “Nobody’s Fault”, the Scorpions “Another Piece of Meat” and CCR’s “Who’ll Stop the Rain”.  Other covers include, Elton John’s “Bitch is Back”, Elvis Presley’s “Viva Las Vegas” and, my personal favorite, “Long Cool Woman” by the Hollies.

Now I try to stay away from cover albums, but Vince Neil does it well.  As soon as the first track started, I rolled down my windows and cranked the volume.  This is truly a feel good, party, summer, lets do shots of tequila CD.  So, before you head to the beach, stop by your local record store and pick-up TATTOOS & TEQUILA.
